COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Edson Buddle scored on a header in the 90th minute, helping the Columbus Crew tie the Dallas Burn 2-2 Saturday.
Jeff Cunningham managed to fend off six Dallas players in the
box to get the ball to Buddle, who flicked a shot over charging
goalkeeper Matt Jordan.
The goal was the fourth in the game's final 15 minutes and kept
Columbus (5-5-5) within two points of second-place Dallas (6-6-4)
in the MLS Central Division.
Dallas took a 2-1 lead on Jason Kreis' goal in the 82nd minute,
one minute after John Wilmar Perez scored for Columbus to tie the
game 1-1.
Chad Deering gave the Burn a 1-0 lead in the 75th minute,
deflecting Jorge Rodriguez's shot past Columbus goalie Tom
Presthus.
A miscue by referee Brian Hall cost the Crew a scoring chance in
the first half.
Cunningham was cutting in alone on Jordan after Dallas committed
a foul, which was not immediately whistled. Hall then blew his
whistle about five seconds later, stopping the play and negating
Columbus' advantage.
