WASHINGTON (AP) -- Ezra Hendrickson, Luis Hernandez and Cobi Jones scored to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 3-0 victory over D.C. United on Saturday night.
Los Angeles goalkeeper Matt Reis made four saves for his sixth
shutout as the Galaxy (8-5-5) won their fourth straight game at RFK
Stadium and improved to 8-8-0 against United.
Los Angeles, winless in two games (0-1-1), has scored a MLS-high 20 road goals this season.
D.C. (5-10-1) is winless in three games (0-2-1) and 2-8-1 in its
last 11 matches.
Hendrickson scored during first-half injury time. Jones curled a
corner kick from the right side. Hendrickson dove and headed the
ball between goalkeeper Mike Ammann and the right post for his
third goal of the season.
Hernandez and Jones scored in a one-minute span in the second
half.
In the 83rd minute, Mauricio Cienfuegos was upended by Ammann on
a breakaway. Hernandez converted a penalty kick.
One minute later, Jones collected a pass from Cienfuegos and
scored his fifth goal of the season on a shot from the top of the
penalty area.
The United, shut out for the second time this season, created
few offensive chances.
A shot by Washington's Mark Lisi glanced off the outside of the
left post in the 66th minute, and an apparent goal by second-half
substitute Santino Quaranta's in the 78th minute was waved off.
