DENVER (AP) -- Raul Diaz Arce had a goal and two assists as the Colorado Rapids beat San Jose 3-1 Saturday night, snapping the Earthquakes' 12-match unbeaten streak.
Marcelo Balboa and Chris Carrieri also scored for Colorado (4-8-5), which won consecutive games for the second time this season. Rapids goalkeeper Scott Garlick stopped four of the five shots he faced.
Ronald Cerritos scored in the 89th minute for the Earthquake
(8-3-5), who had not lost since a 2-1 defeat at Miami on April 21.
Colorado charged to a two-goal lead in the first half.
Balboa took a drop pass from Diaz Arce and scored past San Jose
goalkeeper Joe Cannon in the fifth minute.
Cannon made a diving save on a shot by Carrieri in the 18th
minute, but Carrieri then scored on a header from just inside the
penalty box.
San Jose did not have a shot on goal in the first half. Manny
Lagos had the best chance of the half when he broke free in the
slot, but he shot over the net.
Diaz Arce gave the Rapids a 3-0 lead three minutes into the
second half, scoring on a pass from Imad Baba.
