FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) _ Andy Williams' first goal of the year gave
the New England Revolution a 3-2 Major League Soccer win over the
Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday night.
In the 51st minute, Wolde Harris passed to Williams on the left
side. He held off a pair of Galaxy defenders before scoring on a
left-footed shot from 10 yards.
Both teams scored twice in the first half.
The Revolution (5-9-4) scored first in the seventh minute.
Williams sent a cross into the box from the left side, but Galaxy
goalkeeper Kevin Hartman and defender Alexi Lalas collided, and
Lalas failed to clear the ball as Harris scored from 9 yards.
The Galaxy (9-6-5) tied the match in the 28th minute as Luis
Hernandez took a pass from Mauricio Cienfuegos and scored from 10
yards out past Revolution goalkeeper Jeff Causey.
New England regained the lead in the 32nd minute as William
Sunsing scored from 8 yards out. But Los Angeles tied the game
again five minutes before halftime on a goal by Hernandez.
The victory ties the Revolution and D.C. United with 19 points
in the race for a playoff berth.
