San Francisco, Calif., Sept. 21, 2000 -- I am in a bit of pain right now, but I'll be fine in a day or two. When I got off the plane Wednesday afternoon, I checked into my hotel and headed over to the Spirits in the Flesh Tattoo Studio on Pine Street. My friend and fellow tattoo aficionado, Jason Giambi, turned me on to this place. This was my second trip to Spirits in the Flesh, and this will be my last tattoo. I have seven, and seven is my favorite number. Seems like the right place to draw the line on my physical artistic statements.

The session for my last tattoo turned out to be a rather lengthy one. It took 2½ hours to draw it and 3½ hours to apply it. That is a long time in the old tattoo chair, let me tell you. Yeah, I got my $600 worth of tattoo and pain. This one hurt more than the other six combined. By the end it felt like I was being poked by an old, dull, rusty screwdriver. Gee, maybe that's why this will be my last one.
My arm will bruise up for a few days, and I can't work out for at least a week. I am using a little Neosporin to fight off bacteria for a day or two. Other than that, I am fine. And thank you for asking.
