 Sampras hasn't won a title in 18 consecutive tournaments. Sampras' Revival Ends Pete Sampras called last year's U.S. Open final loss to Marat Safin humiliating. After avenging himself against Safin in the semis this year, Sampras seemed to have nothing left against another young player -- Lleyton Hewitt of Australia. Hewitt won 7-6 (4), 6-1, 6-1 Sunday to take his first Grand Slam title. It's the first time in nine seasons Sampras will not take home a Grand Slam title. Slam for the Century
