WASHINGTON (AP) -- Brandy Reed scored 25 points and the Phoenix Mercury held the Washington Mystics to eight points in the final 16 minutes in a 66-57 victory Friday night. Phoenix (9-5) improved to 6-0 overall against Washington, with Reed scoring eight points during a 12-0 run that gave the Mercury the lead for good midway through the second half. The Mercury held Washington (6-7) scoreless for 8:53 during the run, with Reed capping the streak with a 3-pointer that gave Phoenix a 53-49 lead. Washington cut it to two once, but never made it closer than three after that. Washington, winless in five games against Western Conference teams, missed 16 of its final 19 shots as Phoenix scored 25 of the last 33 points. Jennifer Gillom added 16 points for Phoenix. Nikki McCray led Washington with 19 points, and Chamique Holdsclaw added 17.
