SEATTLE (AP) -- Vickie Johnson scored 18 points to lead the New York Liberty to a 78-55 victory over the Seattle Storm on Wednesday night. It was the first and only meeting between the teams, which are going in opposite directions. New York (13-9) has won a season-high six straight games while the Storm (3-19) have lost six in a row. Johnson finished 6-of-11 from the field, and was 4-of-5 in the second half when the Liberty pulled away for their largest margin of victory this season. Tari Phillips had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Liberty, and Becky Hammon added 16 points. Kamila Vodichkova and Quacy Barnes each scored 12 points to pace Seattle. Seattle's Edna Campbell returned after missing 10 games with a sprained right ankle. Campbell, the team's leading scorer at 15.5 points, finished with two points on 1-of-9 shooting in 26 minutes. Hammon was responsible for New York's quick start. She scored 13 points in the first half on 5-of-6 shooting, including all three attempts from beyond the 3-point arc. Hammon's second 3-pointer gave New York a 14-3 lead only 4:37 into the game. Seattle struggled on offense early, scoring only six points over the opening 5:24, all by Sonja Henning.
