ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Andrea Stinson scored a 25 points as the
Charlotte Sting snapped a three-game losing streak with an 86-79
victory over the Orlando Miracle on Saturday night.
Dawn Staley had 13 points and nine assists for Charlotte.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin led Orlando with 23 points. Elaine
Powell finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
Allison Feaster scored 16 of her 18 points in the first half and
helped the Sting build a 10-point lead.
The Miracle closed with four points, 45-41, by halftime.
Charlotte capitalized on seven Orlando turnovers in the first
five minutes of the second half, pushing its lead to double digits
with a 13-6 run.
A putback by Tammy Sutton-Brown pushed the lead to 66-54 with
11:12 left, and Charlotte withstood a late run by the Miracle to
secure its first victory.
A 3-pointer by Jaclyn Johnson capped a 9-4 surge as Orlando
closed to 80-76 with 1:30 remaining.
Moments later Powell had a steal and a layup, cutting the
Miracle's deficit to 82-79 with 32.3 seconds left. However, Orlando
did not score again.
Stinson scored 10 points in the final 4:12 of regulation and
accounted for 10 of Charlotte's last 14 points.
