Sol win franchise-best fifth straight game |

MIAMI (AP) -- Sandy Brondello scored 23 points as the Miami Sol beat the Charlotte Sting 68-48 Wednesday night, extending their winning streak to a franchise-record five games.
Brondello shot 9-for-13 from the field, including 4-for-6 from
3-point range, in matching her season-high scoring total.
Sheri Sam added 18 points for Miami (11-9), which had its
largest margin of victory in its two-year history. Tracy Reid added
10 points before leaving midway through the second half with a
strained right hamstring.
Dawn Staley scored 13 points for Charlotte (8-12), which lost
for just the second time in nine games.
Miami shot 50.9 percent and improved to 8-0 when shooting better
than 45 percent from the field.
Miami converted 23 Charlotte turnovers into 33 points, and the
Sol's 16 steals were a franchise record.
In the second half, Miami shot 53 percent and limited Charlotte
to 7-for-25 shooting.
Miami used a 12-2 first-half run to built its lead to 29-17.
Charlotte closed the half with a 5-2 surge, cutting its deficit to
29-22 by the break.
Brondello had 11 points, including two 3-pointers, in the first
half.
Miami converted 13 turnovers into 16 points in the opening half. |
