Monarchs halt two-game slide |

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Yolanda Griffith had 19 points and 13
rebounds to lead the Sacramento Monarchs to a 66-52 victory over
the Detroit Shock on Saturday night.
Griffith scored 13 points in the second half as the Monarchs
(13-9) snapped a two-game losing streak.
Ticha Penicheiro had a season-high 17 points and six assists for
the Monarchs. Tangela Smith added nine points, 11 rebounds and
three blocks, and Kara Wolters scored nine points.
Astou Ndiaye-Diatta and Jae King each scored 13 points for
Detroit (5-15), which lost its fourth straight game. Elena
Tornikidou scored nine points and Deanna Brown added nine rebounds.
Detroit shot 8-for-33 in the first half and trailed 30-21 at the
break. The Shock shot 30 percent, 21-of-69, for the game.
