Rockers drop Detroit, get back to winning |

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Merlakia Jones scored 12 points and Rushia Brown added 10 as the Cleveland Rockers beat the Detroit Shock 55-50 Saturday night.
The Rockers took the lead for good on a basket by Ann Wauters
with five minutes remaining. The Shock, who held a late 50-49 lead,
did not score in the final 5:28.
Cleveland, which leads the Eastern Conference at 19-6, had its seven-game winning streak and record 16-game home winning streak snapped Friday in a loss to Indiana.
Wendy Palmer led the Shock with 14 points. Elena Tornikidou and
Deanna Nolan each scored eight for Detroit, which lost for the 10th
time in 12 games and is in last place in the East at 6-18.
Tornikidou scored eight points and Palmer added six as the Shock built a 27-24 lead by halftime.
Cleveland's largest advantage was six points, 42-36, with 12:40
left in the second half. |
