Lynx end six-game road losing streak |

PHOENIX (AP) -- Katie Smith scored 36 points as the Minnesota
Lynx snapped a five-game losing streak with a 68-63 victory over
the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday night.
Smith, the WNBA's leading scorer who also played in the ABL,
surpassed 3,000 points for her professional career.
Svetlana Abrosimova added 16 points for the Lynx, who ended a
six-game road losing streak.
Phoenix's loss, combined with Utah's victory over Houston
earlier Wednesday, left the Mercury three games behind the Starzz
in the race for the final playoff berth in the Western Conference
with seven games remaining.
Jennifer Gillom and Maria Stepanova each scored 15 points for
the Mercury, who had won five of their last six games.
Smith hit consecutive 3-pointers and helped Minnesota push its
lead to 20 points, 48-28, with 14:05 left.
The Mercury used a 13-3 run to close within 62-59 with 2:08
left. Abrosimova hit a 3-pointer, pushing Minnesota's lead to six
points. Phoenix failed to score on its next two possessions. |
