Williams, Goodson pave way for Utah |

HOUSTON (AP) -- Natalie Williams scored 18 points and Adrienne
Goodson added 15 as the Utah Starzz extended their winning streak
to five games, beating the Houston Comets 71-63 Wednesday night.
The Starzz (14-11), who led 35-34 at halftime, opened the second
half with a 14-7 run, extending their lead to eight points, 49-41.
Williams, who shot 7-for-12 in the game, scored four points in
the surge, while Goodson and Jennifer Azzi added 3-pointers.
Janeth Arcain scored 18 points for Houston (16-9), which lost
for the seventh time in 11 games. Tina Thompson added 17 points.
The Starzz hit four of their first five shots and charged to a
10-4 lead.
The Comets countered with a 12-2 run and took a 16-12 lead with
13:48 left in the first half. Thompson and Coquese Washington each
hit 3-pointers to start the run, and Arcain capped the outburst
with a layup, off a pass from Tynesha Lewis. |
