PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Katie Smith had 27 points and 10 rebounds and the Minnesota Lynx beat Portland 70-58 Wednesday night, the Fire's franchise-record seventh straight loss.

Svetlana Abrosimova added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Lynx, who committed 20 turnovers but still beat the Fire for the third time in as many games this season.

Smith needs 12 points to break the WNBA season scoring record of 686, set by Houston's Cynthia Cooper in 1998.

Jackie Stiles had 14 points for the Fire, who have lost 12 of 14, while Sophia Witherspoon added 10.

The Fire cut an eight-point halftime deficit to one when Alisa Burras scored inside with 8:59 left, and twice got within two points with less than seven minutes left. But Portland then went scoreless for 2:21.

Lynn Pride made a reverse layup, Betty Lennox hit a jumper and Abrosimova had a three-point play as the Lynx pulled away and the Fire never again threatened.

Smith scored 10 points in the first half, when Minnesota had as many turnovers (12) as field goals and Portland shot just 28.6 percent from the field.
