Monarchs hold two key tiebreakers |

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Yolanda Griffith scored 25 points as
the Sacramento Monarchs beat the Seattle Storm 81-61 on Saturday
night to move into second place in the Western Conference.
Sacramento (18-12) is tied with Utah and Houston, but has the
tiebreaker over both teams with 2-1 head-to-head records.
Lady Hardmon added 13 points for Sacramento, and Tangela Smith
had 12.
Jamie Redd led the Storm (10-21) with 24 points, and Michelle
Marciniak added 10. Seattle's Lauren Jackson, averaging 15.2
points, did not play because of a shoulder injury.
The Monarchs led 39-30 at the half and used an 11-0 run to take
a 54-37 lead with 13:52 to play. Edna Campbell hit two 3-pointers
in the run and Kedra Holland-Corn added another. Holland-Corn also
scored on a layup after a steal. |
