Each week I will post my "Dick's Dow Jones" report on whose stock is up and whose is down from across the world of sports.

Stock up: Mickelson, Sweeney, Phils
Phil Mickelson, using visualization and really working on the mental aspect of his game, played brilliantly to win the Greater Hartford Open. So many expected him to collapse Sunday, but he responded with a positive attitude, which played a big role in getting him to the winner's circle.

Nobody talks about Mike Sweeney in Kansas City. But ask the Cleveland Indians' pitching staff about the Royals' slugger. He was absolutely sensational over the weekend. He took them apart big-time with homers and RBIs. He can flat-out swing the lumber. He's one of the most underrated hitters in baseball -- not among his peers, but with the fans.

In addition, don't forget about Larry Bowa and the Phillies. After they got humiliated by Atlanta, they came back against the red-hot Florida Marlins and won five in a row to get some separation in the NL East. Bowa and the Phillies deserve a pat on the back for showing some quality character.

Stock down: Krause, Hamilton, Marlins
The Bulls' Jerry Krause traded Elton Brand, who is 22 years old and a quality 20 points-10 rebounds-per-game player during his two years in the NBA. There aren't many 20-10 players around. But Krause traded him to the Clippers for Tyson Chandler, giving the Bulls two diaper dandies -- Chandler and Eddy Curry. It's all potential, potential, potential. Talk about young players; Tim Floyd will have his hands full trying to turn the Bulls into a winning team.

What about Darryl Hamilton, the former Mets outfielder? According to reports, he got into a verbal confrontation with Mets manager Bobby Valentine over PT. Hey, when you are in your middle 30s and hitting the Mendoza line, you don't make any kind of waves. And what happened? Hamilton was let go.

The Florida Marlins had played great recently, but they got swept five straight against the Phillies. It sets them back big-time, and now they have to respond in a positive way and show some character.
