SEATTLE (AP) _ Lou Piniella thought he was back in the Kingdome again, what with six home runs flying out of Safeco Field on Saturday. ``Well, we found out one thing,'' the Seattle Mariners manager said after watching his team lose to the Milwaukee Brewers 9-6. ``Fifteen runs by home runs. That's a lot of thunder out there.'' The Brewers won the game with two out in the top of the ninth Lyle Mouton hit a three-run homer off left-hander Arthur Rhodes, after second baseman Willie Bloomquist's error prolonged the inning. As a result, all the runs were unearned. Seattle starter Aaron Sele surrendered three homers, all two-run shots by Jeromy Burnitz, Geoff Jenkins and Tyler Houston. For the Mariners, Jay Buhner continued his blistering spring with a grand slam and Mike Cameron, Ken Griffey Jr.'s replacement in center field, had a two-run homer. The Mariners moved last July 15 to Safeco from the Kingdome, which was imploded last Sunday. The Mariners hit 47 home runs in 42 games at Safeco last season after getting 75 in 39 games at the Kingdome. A crowd of 13,330 watched the first exhibition game at Safeco, and most of the fans were wearing coats. It was a sunny but breezy day with a game-time temperature of 63 degrees. ``Last September, the ball carried exceedingly well here,'' Piniella said. ``When the weather cooled off in the first week of September, the ball jumped all of September. Boy, it traveled today. There were some shots here. It was like a Kingdome game. The poor thing is going to get blamed for whatever happens here one way or the other.'' Cameron, acquired from Cincinnati for Griffey on Feb. 10, homered for the fourth time this spring. His ball carried 392 feet to the opposite field, to right, in the seventh. He shrugged off the noise of whistles from trains that pass behind right and center field during games at Safeco. ``Aw, naw, it doesn't bother me at all,'' Cameron said. ``It's all part of nature.'' New Brewers manager Davey Lopes saw games in Safeco Field last season when he was a coach with San Diego. Milwaukee played the exhibition opener at new Pacific Bell Park in San Francisco on Friday. ``They didn't cut corners here like the Giants did,'' Lopes said. ``San Francisco is a nice field, but inside for the visiting side it's not very good.'' Burnitz's seventh homer of the spring gave him 25 RBIs for the spring. ``I don't hit too much in the offseason,'' Burnitz said. ``I just kept working and working, and the last couple of weeks started feeling good physically. I'm having a lot better time.'' Notes: After the game, the Mariners announced they have placed C Tom Lampkin on the 15-day disabled list effective to March 25. Lampkin underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on March 1. C Joe Oliver, who will be Dan Wilson's backup until Lampkin gets back, was added to the team's 40-man roster. To make room for Oliver, OF Anthony Sanders was designated for assignment. Sanders was claimed on waivers on Friday from Toronto. ... Piniella said LHP John Halama will be his No. 4 starter and will start Friday against the New York Yankees, and RHP Gil Meche will be his No. 5 starter and will start Saturday against the Yankees. ... RHP Brett Tomko, part of the trade for Griffey, will start the season in Seattle's bullpen. He came to spring training as a candidate to be a starter, but has been bothered by an inflamed Achilles tendon. ... Piniella said 3B Carlos Guillen, who was hit in the left foot by a fouled ball in Las Vegas, Nev., on Friday, could have played and will play in Seattle's exhibition finale on Sunday. ... Seattle DH Edgar Martinez played for the first time since missing six games after being hit in the left elbow last Sunday. Piniella said Martinez's elbow still was bothering him. ... Buhner hit his seventh homer of the spring, giving him 23 RBIs. ... RHP Jamie Navarro of the Brewers pitched three shutout innings.
