MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Tom Glavine chose an opportune time to be his old reliable self. Glavine pitched into the ninth inning and Javy Lopez hit a two-run homer as the Braves Atlanta beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-3 Friday night to end a three-game losing streak. Glavine (2-0) gave up two runs in the first inning, but did not allow another run until the ninth. He allowed seven hits and struck out seven before leaving with a 6-2 lead in the ninth after the Brewers put two runners on base with no outs. "It was vintage Glavine," Braves manager Bobby Cox said. "He gave up two in the first. He didn't bend much more and that was it. He really pitched good. The ball was running like crazy. It was really sinking away from right-handers." Kerry Ligtenberg gave up Ron Belliard's sacrifice fly before Mike Remlinger got the last out for his second save. Steve Woodard (0-2) allowed three runs and 10 hits in seven innings. With the score tied at 2 in the seventh, Walt Weiss drew a one-out walk and advanced on Glavine's sacrifice. Quilvio Veras followed with an RBI double. Veras was thrown out at the plate by left fielder Geoff Jenkins on Andruw Jones' single. "I made some mistakes," Woodward said. "Two-out runs ... you try to stay away from those. That's what beat me tonight." The Braves added three runs in the eighth off Curtis Leskanic. Andres Galarraga singled and advanced on a wild pitch. After Trenidad Hubbard walked. Galarraga moved up on another wild pitch and continued home on a throwing error by catcher Tyler Houston. Lopez followed with his second homer, a 390-foot shot to left. Milwaukee scored twice in the first. Marquis Grissom singled to open Mark Loretta followed with an RBI double. Charlie Hayes added a sacrifice fly. "They hit decent pitches," Glavine said. "The base hit that Marquis got was a fastball down and away. The base hit by Loretta, I threw it where I wanted to, he just fought it off and he beat me with it." Galarraga doubled in the second and scored on Bobby Bonilla's single. The Braves tied it in the fourth on a two-out double by Reggie Sanders and an RBI single by Weiss. "To finally get a win on this road trip was big for us," Glavine said. "It felt good to go out there and do my part and the guys came alive offensively a little bit." Game notesLoretta snapped an 0-for-12 streak. ... The Brewers made their second minor league trade in as many days, acquiring left-handed pitcher Ray King from the Chicago Cubs. King, who was 1-0 in one appearance with Chicago's Triple-A Iowa affiliate, will report to the Brewers' Triple-A club at Indianapolis. The Brewers gave up right-hander Doug Johnston, who was pitching at Double-A Huntsville. ... Jenkins' assist in the seventh was his league-leading third of the season. ... Belliard was hitless in three at-bats, snapping his 10-game hitting streak. ... Jones' single extended his hitting streak to seven games. ... Brewers' catcher Henry Blanco suffered a lacerated index finger on his right hand on Veras' slide at the plate in the seventh inning.
