MIAMI (AP) _ Javy Lopez hit a grand slam to cap Atlanta's five-run first inning as the Braves snapped a three-game losing streak with a 10-5 win over the Florida Marlins on Tuesday night.

John Burkett (1-2), who played for the Marlins in 1995-96, allowed two runs and six hits in six innings for his first win with Atlanta.

The Braves, who had lost four of five since a franchise-record 15-game winning streak ended last Wednesday in Los Angeles, tied their season high in runs. They beat Philadelphia 10-1 on April 19.

Brad Penny (3-4) allowed six runs and three hits in 2 1-3 wild innings. He walked seven, hit two batters, threw a wild pitch and balked once.

Penny, who had worked at least six innings in each of his previous six starts, had control problems from the outset.

With one out in the first, he hit Andruw Jones and walked Chipper Jones and Andres Galarraga, loading the bases. Penny then hit Brian Jordan, allowing Andruw Jones to score.

Lopez, who went 3-for-4, followed with his third career grand slam, an opposite-field shot to right, to make it 5-0.

The Marlins scored a run in the bottom of the first on Mark Kotsay's RBI single.

The Braves chased Penny in the third. Atlanta loaded the bases when Lopez walked, Bobby Bonilla singled and Rafael Furcal walked. With one out, Penny walked Quilvio Veras to make it 6-1.

The Braves added single runs in the fifth and sixth before scoring twice in the seventh. A run-scoring double by Galarraga was the big hit, giving him 1,199 RBIs in his career.

Mike Lowell hit a solo homer off Kerry Ligtenberg in the eighth inning, and Mark Smith had a two-run shot off Bruce Chen in the ninth.

Notes: Braves closer John Rocker has allowed five runs, seven hits and three walks in his past three games. ... The Marlins have six wins against the NL East. Last year, they didn't reach that total until June 27. ... Mark Kotsay's third-inning RBI triple was the 19th triple of his career, tying Kurt Abbott for the Marlins' record.
