PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Steve Sisco's first major-league hit, a two-run homer in the 10th inning, lifted the Atlanta Braves to a 3-2 victory over the Phillies on Saturday.

The game was delayed 2 hours, 57 minutes by rain in the top of the seventh.

Bobby Bonilla led off the 10th with a single off Scott Aldred (1-3). Pinch-runner Mark DeRosa moved to second on a sacrifice and scored on Sisco's blast into the left-field bullpen.

Sisco, 30, had been 0-for-5 before his game-winning homer.

Rudy Seanez (2-1) escaped a bases-loaded, two-out jam in the ninth by striking out Mike Lieberthal. John Rocker struck out the side in the 10th, but allowed one run to earn his ninth save.

The game was actually stopped before any rain had fallen because of strong winds. A heavy downpour followed while the tarpaulin was still being applied.

Groundskeepers had to hold the tarp down for several minutes during the storm as winds threatened to blow it off the field.

Both starters, Greg Maddux and Andy Ashby, had strong outings, but neither returned to the mound after the delay.

Kevin Jordan, starting at first base in place of the injured Rico Brogna, made a fantastic play to preserve the tie in the eighth.

Javier Lopez led off the inning with a double off Jason Boyd and advanced to third on Quilvio Veras' sacrifice. Andruw Jones hit a grounder down the first-base line, but Jordan dived to grab the ball, tagged the bag as he was getting up and threw home to nail Lopez for a double play.

Andres Galarraga gave Atlanta a 1-0 lead in the second with his 11th home run of the season, an upper-deck blast to left field. It came one pitch after Ashby knocked him down with a high fastball.

The Phillies manufactured a run to tie it 1-1 in the second. Desi Relaford led off with a single and stole second. He advanced to third on a fly out to right by Ashby and scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Doug Glanville.

Relaford singled off Rocker with two outs in the 10th and advanced to second on catcher's indifference. He scored on Brian Hunter's double to make it 3-2.

Maddux allowed one run and three hits in six innings. He struck out five walked none, and threw 77 pitches _ 52 strikes.

It was the sixth time in nine starts that Maddux allowed two earned runs or fewer. He lowered his ERA to 2.52, but remains 4-1. The Braves are averaging 3.8 runs in his nine starts.

Ashby, who struggled in his first six starts, had a strong outing for the second time in a week against Atlanta. He allowed one run and two hits in 6 1-3 innings. Ashby struck out five, walked one and hit one.

The right-hander beat the Braves 7-4 in his last start May 7. He struck out eight and allowed three runs in eight innings.

Ashby stranded two runners in the fourth by striking out Bobby Bonilla. He retired seven in a row after Galarraga's homer.

Notes: Paul Byrd makes his first start Sunday since beating Cincinnati on May 3. Byrd strained his groin in the victory and missed his next start. In his last start against the Braves on July 30, Byrd ignited a bench-clearing brawl by hitting Eddie Perez with a pitch. ... Rocker was cheered by the several hundred fans remaining in the stands when he trotted to the bullpen in the seventh. He was booed when he entered the game. ... Mickey Morandini entered with the fourth-highest lifetime average against Maddux at .348. He went 0-for-2 with a strikeout.
