MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Edgard Clemente has a lot more in common with Roberto Clemente than a family connection.

Anaheim's right fielder, the nephew of the hard-throwing Hall of
Fame outfielder, threw out Corey Koskie at the plate in the ninth inning as the Angels beat Minnesota 6-5 in 10 innings Wednesday
night.
Clemente's throw from the warning track on Jay Canizaro's
two-run double allowed catcher Bengie Molina to make an easy play
on Koskie for the third out.
"I knew there wouldn't be time for a cutoff," Clemente said. "So I put everything I had into it."
Anaheim's Troy Glaus followed Clemente's game-saving throw with
a leadoff homer in the 10th.
"What a great play," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "Take
your pick of right fielders -- Roberto, Raul Mondesi. It was as good
a throw as you ever want to see."
The Twins were impressed.
"He's got a cannon," Koskie said.
"He threw the ball all the way from the right-field wall,"
Twins outfielder Matt Lawton said. "That's the play of the game."
Glaus homered to left off Bob Wells (0-5), the third baseman's
15th homer of the season. Al Levine pitched the 10th for his first
career save.
Troy Percival (2-2) blew a save opportunity for just the second
time this season, allowing the first runs of his career against
Minnesota. The ninth-inning runs were unearned because of an error
on shortstop Benji Gil.
Anaheim's Mo Vaughn was 5-for-5, including RBI singles in
seventh and ninth innings, to increase his hitting streak to 11
games.
"I wouldn't say I was in a groove," Vaughn said. "I like to
think about it as getting set up the right way at the plate and
executing."
The Angels outhit the Twins 18-7.
"There was some drama in the game," Twins manager Tom Kelly
said. "It was a great comeback against a guy like Percival."
Anaheim tied it at 3 in the sixth on Garret Anderson's 11th home
run, a solo shot off Mark Redman into the upper deck in right
field.
Angels starter Jarrod Washburn allowed five hits and two earned
runs in seven innings, his longest outing of the season.
Anaheim took a 1-0 lead in the first on Vaughn's double to right
and Tim Salmon's RBI single.
The Twins countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Matt Lawton drove in two runs with a triple to right center and
scored on Butch Huskey's single.
Anaheim cut it to 3-2 in the fifth on singles by Bengie Molina,
Erstad and Kennedy. Vaughn then singled to load the bases with one
out, but third baseman Ron Coomer backhanded Salmon's grounder to
start an inning-ending double play.
Game notes
Vaughn had his third career five-hit game. His last was on
June 24, 1999, in Seattle. Vaughn's career best hitting streak is
16, set in 1993 and matched in 1996. ... Molina had his second
four-hit game of the season. ... Erstad was 3-for-6 to raise his
American League-league leading average to .379. ... Anderson's home
run was his fifth this season off a left-handed pitcher, two more
than he hit all of last year. ... Lawton's triple was the Twins'
16th, tops in the AL. The Twins are on a pace for 55 triples, which
would be their best total since hitting a club-record 60 in 1977.
... Minnesota's Brad Radke (3-4, 4.22) will face Anaheim's Scott
Schoeneweis (4-2, 5.46) in Thursday's series finale. ... Minnesota
pitcher Joe Mays was hit in his left hand by a foul ball. X-rays were negative. Anaheim pitching coach Bud Black was hit in the neck by a foul ball but was fine after the game.
