PHOENIX (AP) -- Jarrod Washburn made the most of a rare turn at bat Saturday.

Washburn pitched seven strong innings and also recorded his first major league hit and RBI, leading the Anaheim Angels over the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-3.

Washburn entered the game with one career at-bat, which came against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 5. He left with a .500 batting average, a walk and a pair of RBI, along with two sacrifice bunts.

Washburn's hit came on a run-scoring bloop single to center in the third inning. As the ball was taken out of play and tossed to the Anaheim dugout, the pitcher stood on first and laughed.

"I was just laughing because I couldn't believe I just got a hit," said Washburn, whose last hit came in high school. "Anything I can do at the plate is just a bonus. I take pride in my bunting. I'm a good bunter."

Washburn (2-1) allowed five hits with six strikeouts. He blanked Arizona until the seventh, when Luis Gonzalez led off with a drive just inside the right-field foul pole for his 16th home run.

"I was just basically getting ahead of the guys and being aggressive with my fastball," said Washburn, who has battled shoulder stiffness in his last two starts. "Today, it felt great and hopefully that's starting to go away."

Tim Salmon, Garrett Anderson and Benji Gil homered for the Angels. The Diamondbacks have lost six of their last seven.

Anaheim's Darin Erstad added a two-run double, giving him a major league-leading 100 hits in 61 games. He is the fastest to reach the 100-hit mark since Heinie Manush had 100 hits in 60 games for the 1934 Washington Senators.

"Erst has been sensational," Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia said. "He has been as consistent as any player for as long as any player I've seen. It's not like he's just on a hot streak. He's been doing it for going on more than a third of the season. He's been as good as you can be."

Gonzalez, who has homered in three straight games, added a two-run double for Arizona in the eighth. He went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI.

Intentional walks helped fuel three-run Anaheim bursts in the second and third innings against Omar Daal (2-7).

Anderson had an infield single with one out in the second and Matt Walbeck doubled with two outs. With Washburn on deck -- he'd only had two previous at-bats in the majors -- Arizona manager Buck Showalter elected to intentionally walk Adam Kennedy and load the bases.

But Daal walked Washburn on five pitches to force home a run, and Erstad followed with a two-run double.

"We'd do it again tomorrow," Showalter said of the intentional walk. "Kennedy's hitting left-handed (against the left-handed Daal) and the pitcher hasn't hit all year."

In the third, Salmon bounced a drive over the center-field fence for a double with one out. Salmon took third on a groundout and Daal intentionally walked Troy Glaus to bring up Walbeck.

Walbeck hit a high chopper to third which Matt Williams couldn't field, and the infield hit allowed Salmon to score to make it 4-0. Kennedy and Washburn each had run-scoring singles as the Angels opened a 6-0 lead.

"It was a really, really bad game today," Daal said. "I just feel so bad. I want to help the team and I haven't been doing my job so far, but I can't do anything about it."

Mike Morgan relieved Daal in the fourth and gave up Gil's leadoff homer, his second, and Salmon's two-run homer, his 15th, before recording an out.

Anderson stretched the Angels' lead to 10-0 when he hit his 15th homer over the right-field pool off Russ Springer.
