GAME LOG
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- This time around, seven solid innings was enough for Randy Wolf. Wolf allowed one run and Mike Lieberthal hit a three-run home run as the Philadelphia Phillies extended their winning streak to a season-high five by beating the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 Wednesday night. Wolf (8-5) allowed five hits, struck out seven and walked none. In his previous start, Wolf also allowed one run through seven innings before being rocked for five runs and six hits in the eighth. "To tell you the truth, it took me a while. It took me a good four days to forget about that eighth inning, but I did," Wolf said. "That last game was such a roller-coaster ride. You're at the top of the ride and then in the matter of 20 minutes, you're at the bottom. To come back and play this game was big for me, mentally." Phillies manager Terry Francona said the previous outing had no bearing on the decision to take Wolf out after seven innings. "It was just who was coming up and what was going on," Francona said. "I just thought he'd had enough." Lieberthal's 13th homer capped a four-run fifth inning off starter Jamey Wright (4-2). Ron Gant, Bobby Abreu and Scott Rolen opened the fifth with consecutive singles before Lieberthal lined a 3-2 pitch 407 feet to center. Wright gave up four runs and eight hits in four-plus innings. Wright won three times in four previous starts since his last loss on June 9. "The home runs that I've given up are, I think, all solos," Wright said. "That's something I was pretty proud of myself -- for getting out of jams with guys in scoring position, bearing down a little more. I let him have that one instead of going right at him with my best sinker." Milwaukee made it 4-1 in the seventh on singles by Marquis Grissom, Charlie Hayes, and Geoff Jenkins' sacrifice fly. The Brewers added a run in the eighth on Mark Sweeney's pinch-hit double and Luis Lopez's single. Philadelphia extended the lead to 5-2 in the ninth off David Weather Lieberthal's one-out single and three consecutive walks. With two outs and a runner on second, Wayne Gomes loaded the bases before getting pinch-hitter Tyler Houston to fly to the warning track in center for his seventh save in 11 chances. Desi Relaford's baserunning mistake cost the Phillies a run in the second. With two outs and runners on first and second, Wolf singled to center. Lieberthal would have scored easily from second, but Relaford went too far rounding second. Center fielder Marquis Grissom threw behind Relaford, who was tagged out before Lieberthal crossed the plate. "It would have been a lot tougher if we'd lost by one," Francona said. "That's a mental mistake that you don't like to see happen." Game notesRolen extended his hitting streak to 13 games. ... Wright's outing was his shortest of the season in nine starts. He pitched into the eighth inning in each of his four previous starts. ... The Phillies clinched their sixth straight series victory. The last time they won five or more consecutive series was in 1995, when they won 10 straight. ... The last time Philadelphia won five consecutive games was May 4-9 last season. ... Chris Jones, called up Tuesday, made his Brewers' debut as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning and flied out to right. ...
