SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Ryan Klesko continues to impress with his clutch hitting. Barry Bonds impressed with his power, even if his last effort came up just a few feet short. Klesko drove in three runs, including the game-winner in the 10th inning, and the San Diego Padres defeated the San Francisco Giants 4-3. The victory wasn't ensured until Bonds, who hit a ball completely out of the park earlier in the evening, flied out to the wall in right-center on the last play of the game. Eric Owens, who snapped an 0-for-12 slump with three hits, led off the 10th with a double against Alan Embree (1-3) and was sacrificed to third. Klesko then drove a single to right against a drawn-in infield. "I thought I made a good pitch but he went out and got it," said Embree, a good friend of Klesko's when both were with Atlanta. "The way we've been playing, you feel good about the team, but it just didn't happen tonight." Klesko agreed he hit a good pitch. "I got out in front of it a little bit, but I did my job by putting it in play," he said. "I just wanted a pitch I could reach." Bonds hit career home run No. 476 in the fourth, moving into sole possession of 18th place on the all-time list.. Bonds was tied with Stan Musial and Willie Stargell before connecting against Padres starter Brian Meadows. It was his 300th home run for the Giants, a three-run shot that landed in McCovey Cove -- the water just outside the right-field fence at Pacific Bell Park. It was the fifth "splash hit" for Bonds this season and only the sixth time a ball has landed in the water on the fly. Bonds nearly tied the game in the 10th with a ball that Ruben Rivera caught at the wall, over 400 feet from home plate. "I crushed that ball," a frustrated Bonds said. "I can't talk about it." Donne Wall (4-2) pitched out of a jam in the ninth to get the victory. With one out, Rich Aurilia and Armando Rios singled, but Wall got pinch-hitters Felipe Crespo and Bobby Estalella on infield grounders to send the game into extra innings. "I made a couple of good pitches and I made a couple of bad pitches," said Wall. "I couldn't stay consistent. That was not a quality pitch to Bonds. Fortunately it stayed in the ballpark." Giants starter Mark Gardner gave up three runs on 10 hits in seven innings. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter, extending his walk-free streak to 19 innings. Meadows went eight innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. He struck out three and walked two. "I was throwing the ball to both sides of the plate," Meadows said. "Except for the home run, I stayed out of the big inning. I thought it was a good pitch, but Bonds just hit it." The Padres took a 2-0 lead in the first as the first four hitters singled against Gardner. After Owens and Al Martin reached base, Klesko and Phil Nevin drove in the runs with base hits. In the second, Klesko added a run-scoring single to put San Diego ahead 3-0. Marvin Benard opened the fourth with a single and Bill Mueller walked to set up Bonds' homer. Game notesFollowing the game, the Giants placed RHP John Johnstone on the 15-day disabled list with lower back pain and recalled RHP Scott Linebrink from Fresno of the PCL. ... Giants OF Ellis Burks was scratched from the starting lineup with a slight irritation behind his right knee. He did extend his hitting streak to 11 games with a pinch-hit double in the seventh. ... Bret Boone played his 100th consecutive game. ... Tony Gwynn, currently on the 15-day disabled list, made his major-league debut 18 years ago Wednesday, collecting two hits. ... The Giants went over the 2 million mark in attendance for the fourth time in franchise history. ... Bonds has 51 career homers against San Diego, second only to the 52 he's hit against Philadelphia. ...
