ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) _ Rookie Adam Kennedy hit a three-run homer _ his second consecutive three-RBI game _ and Darin Erstad drove in two runs Wednesday night as the Anaheim Angels rallied from four runs down for an 8-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Ramon Ortiz (6-5) allowed four runs _ three earned _ and six hits in six-plus innings. He walked three and struck out six.

One night after being held hitless through four innings by Tampa Bay's Bryan Rekar, Anaheim managed only one hit through the first four against Cory Lidle _ Kennedy's leadoff bunt single in the third.

But the Angels erupted for five runs in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead, knocking out Lidle (2-6) with five consecutive one-out hits.

The right-hander walked Troy Glaus before giving up Bengie Molina's double and Kennedy's ninth home run. Benji Gil and Erstad followed with consecutive doubles, tying the score, and Orlando Palmeiro's single up the middle delivered Erstad with the go-ahead run.

The Angels increased the margin to 8-4 during a three-run sixth that included RBI singles by Erstad and Gil, who had three hits. Kennedy, who was walked intentionally, took third on Gil's hit to right and continued home when Steve Cox misplayed the ball for an error.

Lidle was charged with five runs and six hits in 4 1-3 innings, after allowing only two hits over seven scoreless innings last Friday at Oakland. In two previous starts, he surrendered 16 earned runs over 5 2-3 innings.

Fred McGriff ended a 14-game RBI drought with a two-run homer, but it wasn't enough as the Devil Rays lost their fifth straight, finished their road trip 2-8 and fell a season-worst 24 games under .500.

The Angels committed three errors in the first two innings, helping Tampa Bay build a 4-0 lead. McGriff capped a three-run first inning with a first-pitch homer to right-center, his 23rd of the season.

Notes: Television personality Deborah Norville sang the National Anthem _ and added "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" to her repertoire during the seventh-inning stretch. ... Tampa Bay LF Greg Vaughn, whose sore right shoulder has limited him to DH duty for the final month of the season, was examined by Angels team physician Dr. Lewis Yocum and told he wouldn't need surgery. ... McGriff needs two homers and one RBI to match the 25 homers and 97 RBIs he averaged over the previous four seasons. He needs four RBIs to reach 100 for the fifth time in his 14-year career. ... Glaus' first-inning error was his 29th. The Angels' 118 errors are tied with Chicago for the second-most in the AL behind Oakland's 128. ... Kennedy is five hits away from joining Wally Joyner and Devon White as the only Angels rookies with at least 150. Joyner had 172 in 1986 and White had 168 in 1987. ... Gerald Williams needs one RBI to become only the seventh player in major league history with at least 80 RBIs and 20 home runs in the leadoff spot. Erstad became the sixth player on Aug. 16. ... Erstad needs five RBIs to break the major league record of 98 by a leadoff hitter, set in 1997 by Boston's Nomar Garciaparra.
