Bullington went 10-2 with 126 K's in 94 IP for Ball State.

With no clear top player available, the Pirates finally decided upon Ball State right-hander Bryan Bullington with the first pick in the first-year player draft. Bullington becomes the first pitcher drafted No. 1 overall since 1997. John Sickels analyzes all 30 first-round picks in his Down on the Farm, including Prince Fielder, son of Cecil, who went seventh overall to the Brewers.
