Played his first 11 years in Boston before signing as a free agent with the Chicago White Sox in 1981, for whom he played his final 13 seasons.
In 1972, became the American League's first-ever unanimous Rookie of the Year after hitting .293 with 22 home runs. Also won his only Gold Glove that year and finished fourth in the MVP vote.
Hit one of the more dramatic home runs in baseball history in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series. The infamous video of him waving the ball fair in the 12th inning (off Pat Darcy) gave the Red Sox a 7-6 victory over the Reds, evening the series at three games apiece.
