  • A seven-time All-Star, he has more RBI (1,652) than any other Latin American player.

  • In 1967 All-Star Game, hit the game-winning home run in the 15th inning, propelling the National League to victory.

  • Was a member of the vaunted Cincinnati Reds team of the '70s, better known as the Big Red Machine. Won two World Series with the Reds in 1975 and '76. His two-run homer off Boston's Bill Lee in the sixth inning of Game 7 in 1975 helped the Reds come back from a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3.

  • Had 954 RBI in the 1970s, the second most by any player in that decade.

  • Ranks 18th on the all-time RBI list and 20th on the all-times games played list.

  • Had best season in 1970 when he hit .317 with 40 home runs and 129 RBI. He finished third in the MVP vote.

  • Drove in 90 runs or better each season from 1967 through 1977. Had

  • Played in the 1983 World Series for the Phillies along with former Reds teammates Pete Rose and Joe Morgan.

  • On May, 13, 1985 became the oldest player to ever hit a grand slam.
