Led the Giants in hits (157) and homers (21, tied with Leonard) ... Compiled an 18-game hitting streak Aug. 26-Sept. 16, longest by a Giant since Jack Clark's 26-game streak in 1978 ... NL Player of the Week Sept. 10-16 after hitting .440 (10-for-19) with three homers and seven RBI ... Finished the season with six hits in 15 pinch-hit at-bats, including a grand slam ... Had two assists from center field May 10 in Pittsburgh.

Homered on Opening Day and had four long balls in his first four games ... Optioned to Class AAA Phoenix for 10 days after his average dropped to .222 before the All-Star break.

Led all major league rookies in run production, totaling 86 runs and 76 RBI ... Led the Giants in hits (167), triples (six) and stolen bases (a Giants rookie-record 24, which also tied Joe Morgan for the team lead) ... First hit of the season was his first big league homer, April 10 off Mario Soto of Cincinnati.
