ATLANTA (AP) _ Dikembe Mutombo and Alan Henderson each scored 24 points Tuesday night as the Atlanta Hawks beat the Denver Nuggets 116-111 to snap a three-game losing streak. The Hawks, who had lost 11 of their last 13 games, outrebounded Denver 47-33 with Mutombo leading the way with 16. Antonio McDyess had 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Nuggets, who missed their final seven shots after Keon Clark's breakaway dunk cut Atlanta's lead to 112-109 with 2:06 remaining. In dropping their 11th straight game in Atlanta, the Nuggets have lost 12 of their last 14 overall and 11 of 12 on the road. Nick Van Exel, who had 24 points, cut the lead to 99-97 by coming off McDyess' screen and hitting a 10-foot jumper with 6:54 remaining. But Van Exel badly missed two 3-point attempts in the final minute to finish with a 9-for-21 performance from the field. George McCloud had 20 points for Denver, but missed all four of his shots in the fourth quarter. Reserve LaPhonso Ellis had 16 points and eight rebounds for Atlanta, which matched a season-high in points. Notes: The loss mathematically eliminated Denver from the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot. ... By missing a wide-open reverse dunk at the end of the first half, rookie guard Dion Glover kept the Hawks one point shy of setting a season high in first-half points. They entered halftime with a 65-56 lead.
