SAN DIEGO (AP) _ Shaquille O'Neal scored 19 points and rookie Devean George hit a key 3-pointer Tuesday night to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 97-90 exhibition win over the Golden State Warriors. O'Neal was held to just one free throw in the final quarter as the Lakers (1-1) struggled to hold onto a 14-point lead early in the quarter and win their first game under new coach Phil Jackson. Golden State (2-2) tied the score at 86 with three minutes remaining. George then made a 3-pointer 13 seconds later to put Los Angeles ahead for good. O'Neal missed his only shot from the field in the fourth quarter and was only 1 of 6 from the line as the Lakers were outscored 24-17. O'Neal had eight rebounds before fouling out in the final minute. Antawn Jamison and Tony Farmer led the Warriors with 18 points each off the bench and Chris Mills added 14 points. Derek Fisher had 18 points and nine assists for Los Angeles, which hit 50 percent from the field and was 31 of 50 from the free throw line. The Warriors shot just 30 percent from the field, but stayed in the game by making 40 of 55 free throws. The Lakers, who trailed 49-47 at halftime, went on a 24-8 run in the final seven minutes of the third quarter to take an 80-66 lead into the fourth quarter.
