HOUSTON (AP) _ Pat Garrity came off the bench to score 15 points and Darrell Armstrong led a third-quarter surge as the Orlando Magic beat the Houston Rockets 110-98 Thursday night. Orlando's 5-0 start is its best in exhibition play since it started the 1996-1997 season 5-0. The Rockets trailed 54-51 at the half but managed to tie the score at 64-64 with 5:17 to go in the period before the Magic used a 12-2 run to take command. Armstrong scored eight of his 12 points in the third quarter. Garrity scored 13 of his 15 points in the first half. Bo Outlaw scored 14 points for the Magic. Walt Williams hit 5-for-7 3-point attempts and led the Rockets with 22 points. Rookie guard Steve Francis added 20 points. Kelvin Cato had six points and four blocked shots. Williams hit four straight 3-point baskets, including two early in the game to give the Rockets the early lead but the Magic took the lead with an 8-0 run midway in the first quarter. Hakeem Olajuwon picked up his third foul with 3:27 to go in the first half and sat out the rest of the half. He finished with six points and nine rebounds.
