BOX SCORE
CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Kenyon Martin returned to the site where he became a collegiate star to score 14 points and grab 12 rebounds as the New Jersey Nets posted a 91-83 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the exhibition finale for both teams. The game was played at the Shoemaker Center on the campus of the University of Cincinnati, where Martin starred in college. The first overall pick in the draft, Martin had his second straight strong game after an inconsistent preseason. The 6-9, 230-pound Martin had 14 points and 11 rebounds against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. Kendall Gill, returning to his natural position of shooting guard, scored 19 points and swingman Johnny Newman added 16 for New Jersey (2-4), which led virtually the entire way. A starter at point guard this season, Andre Miller scored 15 points to lead Cleveland (2-4). Offseason acquistion and former Net Chris Gatling added 13 points and Matt Harpring, another offseason acquistion, netted 10. First-round pick Chris Mihm scored just five points for the Cavaliers. The Nets host the Cavaliers in the season opener for both teams Tuesday.
