with Rod Gilmore

Tennessee appeared to be pretty cold there in Dallas. K-State did more of what we've been seeing during bowl week -- spreading players out and getting big plays out of the wide receiver position. Quincy Morgan stepped up and played like Freddie Mitchell, Antonio Bryant and Ron Johnson did in their bowl games. Morgan had a huge day. The non-call of an apparent Kansas St. fumble in the first half on the ten yard line really hurt Tennessee. That was a huge swing in momentum. It gave the Wildcats another opportunity for a touchdown which they converted. The Vols really deflated after that and never were able to recover.

IT WAS OVER WHEN ...
Quincy Morgan hauled in a pair of long passes for touchdowns in a span of 3:03 early in the second quarter, turning a tie game into a 21-7 K-State lead. From there, it was just a matter of playing out the string for the Wildcats.
GAME BALL GOES TO ...
K-State quarterback Jonathan Beasley, who ran for a career-best 98 yards and a touchdown, threw for 210 yards and the two TDs to Morgan, and quick-kicked the ball to the 4.

K-State Makes Its Case
Quincy Morgan
Quincy Morgan and the Wildcats had plenty to celebrate.

It's two years too late, but Kansas State has proved its point. The Wildcats, shunned for a national championship shot in 1998, ran over Tennessee 35-21 in the Cotton Bowl, proving they belong in the New Year's Day lineup. K-State quarterback Jonathan Beasley passed for two touchdowns, ran for a third and pinned the Vols deep with a quick kick to the 4.

"Problems, Problems, Problems. Bad bowl year for the SEC and the VOLS. Bowls looking bad for you guys and now recruiting violations at Kentucky and Alabama again. Big East now 3-1, with 1 to go. Go canes, were rolling."
