ESPN.com and ESPN have teamed up to present VERGE Friday, a week-long interactive celebration of college football, featuring the Culligan Holiday Bowl matchup of Texas vs. Washington on Friday, Dec. 28 (ESPN, 8:30 p.m. ET). VERGE Friday will be highlighted by real-time, online coaching analysis during the game from former head coaches Jim Donnan and Dick Tomey via ESPN's Enhanced Television. ESPN.com will also present player diaries, reports from San Diego and more.

Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 26, Donnan and Tomey will spend time with Washington and Texas, respectively, in San Diego. Each will watch game film, attend practices and work with the coaching staffs about game plans for Friday night.The culmination of their preparation will be featured on Enhanced Television when Donnan and Tomey "coach" against each other online simultaneously with ESPN's telecast of the game.

Other highlights of VERGE Friday include:

  • State of the Game: Donnan and Tomey address the state of college football.
  • ESPN's Mel Kiper breaks down the pro prospects on both the Washington and Texas rosters, and provides a preview of the Culligan Holiday Bowl.

  • Player diaries: ESPN.com will give users a look inside bowl week through the eyes of Texas safety Nathan Vasher and Washington running back Willie Hurst.
  • Postcards from San Diego: ESPN.com will be in San Diego to capture the flavor and set the scene as both teams prepare for the Holiday Bowl.
  • Football history and traditions: ESPN.com will take a look throughout the week at the history and traditions of Washington and Texas, from the invention of the Wave to the naming of Bevo.
