BOSTON (AP) -- Alissa Murphy, playing her final regular-season home game, scored a season-high 25 points as Boston College set a school record for wins in a season, beating Syracuse 80-60 Tuesday. Murphy was 8-for-10, including 4-for-4 on 3-pointers. Jamie Cournoyer scored 22 points and Brianne Stepherson 13 for the Eagles (23-7, 12-4 Big East), whose previous record for wins was 22-7 last season. The Eagles (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 19 Associated Press) finished the season 14-0 at home, winning by an average margin of 20.8 points. It was their 16th straight home victory. Boston College, which has five losses against ranked opponents, plays its next game Saturday against West Virginia in the opening round of the Big East tournament. Beth Record led Syracuse (10-17, 3-13) with 15 points. Jaime James had 14. The Eagles, who only trailed in the game's opening 90 seconds, held a 36-29 halftime edge.
BC used a 14-0 run early in the second half to take command,
pushing its lead to 52-34 with 14:07 left. The Eagles' biggest
advantage was 73-49 on Murphy's free throw with just under five
minutes left.
