MIAMI -- When it comes to the Super Bowl, getting tickets is always a challenge. Version XXXIII is no different. However, an Atlanta radio station is willing to help -- if you have friends in high places.
WSTR-FM (Star 94) is offering tickets to listeners who bring celebrities to the phone for a radio interview. The station last week began its "Superstars for the Super Bowl" contest, guaranteeing tickets to the listener who can get the biggest star to the phone during the "Steve and Vicki in the Morning" show.
According to The Miami Herald, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, Shirley Jones of the Partridge Family and now the Drew Carey Show, Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu, talk-show host Maury Povich and Falcons QB Chris Chandler have been worth admission to Sunday's game.
Where's Garo?
Running for his life, the ball actually landed behind him and was ruled a fumble. The Redskins' Mike Bass grabbed it and ran in for touchdown. It was Washington's only score as the Dolphins went on to win 14-7.
Garo is at it again. As part of a Super Bowl XXXIII promotion, Sprint and Yepremian are teaming up to recreate the moment. It goes something like this:
"The good news: If you throw like Garo Yepremian, you may win two tickets to the Super Bowl. The bad news: You throw like Garo Yepremian."
Fans are invited to meet Yepremian at Sprint PCS centers in the Miami area and do their best impression of the ill-fated play for a chance to win.
If you are desperate for tickets and can't find a celebrity to bring to the phone for a radio interview, don't give up. You might want to fly to Miami anyway, and try to impress the judges with your lack of football talent.
Sorry, Garo.
Rumors of the Day
On the card, a bright red-headed Rodman is dressed in a black zip-up top, tight silver shorts and a dog collar and shares the photo with a parrot and two bikini-clad women on a beach. On the back, Rodman is posing on a couch and the information touts a XXX No-No room, retro drag, funk and live entertainment.
Surely, the Heat can wait a few more days, Rodman is still on his honeymoon.
