The Pittsburgh Steelers owned the Super Bowl in the '70s, and they were back in style in ESPN.com's Fantasy Super Bowl Tournament.
Pittsburgh, which won won four Super Bowls in six seasons during the late '70s, beat the top-seeded 49ers in the finals to win our eight-team tournament of the best franchises in Super Bowl history.
With nearly 9,000 users voting in the final, the Steelers got 53.5 percent of the vote to beat Joe Montana and the Niners.
Here's how we set up the tournament, with a look back at the results from each round:
We selected an all-time roster for each franchise from all the players who ever wore its uniform in the Super Bowl.
Players were chosen based partly on Super Bowl performance, but primarily on their overall ability.
We then seeded the eight teams based on their Super Bowl records and built a tournament. The 49ers, who sport a 5-0 Super record, were seeded No. 1, while the Broncos (1-4) were the eighth seed, and so on.
