SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ Jeff Friesen scored 65 seconds into overtime and Owen Nolan had his 28th and 29th goals, one short-handed, as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 Saturday night.

Luc Robitaille sent the game into overtime with a goal for the Kings with 1:33 left in the third period, but Friesen took a long pass off the boards and knocked his 17th goal past Los Angeles goalie Jamie Storr for the game winner in the extra period.

Storr, who came off the injured list Friday, was making his first start since being sidelined Dec. 17 due to symptoms from post-concussion syndrome. He was hurt Dec. 11 when his head struck the crossbar while he was stopping a breakaway by Montreal's Martin Rucinsky.

Brad Chartrand scored the other goal for the Kings in a game between struggling teams. It was just the fourth win in 11 games for San Jose, while the Kings have won just twice in 11 contests.

Nolan, third in the league in goals, opened the scoring just 96 seconds in when _ with the Sharks killing a penalty _ he took the puck in his own end and skated along the boards until the top of the faceoff circle, then blasted a shot over Storr's right shoulder.

The Sharks now are tied with Detroit and Phoenix for the league lead with eight short-handed goals. Only two of those have come at home.

Nolan made it 2-0 later in the period when he completed a 3-on-1 break with his 29th goal. But Chartrand scored 28 seconds later to pull the Kings within a goal.

The Sharks had an excellent opportunity to increase their lead when two Kings were called for penalties and San Jose had a two-man advantage for two minutes in the second period.

But they went scoreless, and got off only two shots while Los Angeles got one shot on goal. The performance left San Jose fans loudly booing their team.

Robitaille scored his 18th goal late in the third with one second remaining on a San Jose penalty. Gary Suter fanned on a clearing attempt for the Sharks, and the puck was passed to Robitaille in front of the net.
