MONTREAL (Ticker) -- Trent McCleary scored with 5:28 remaining in regulation to lift the Montreal Canadiens into a 3-3 tie with the Vancouver Canucks, who remained winless in the exhibition season.

McCleary, who did not collect a point in 46 games with Montreal last season, scored 2:11 after rookie Zenith Komarniski gave Vancouver a 3-2 lead.

Rookie Rene Vydareny and Bill Muckalt also tallied and Kevin Weekes made 28 saves for the Canucks, who moved to 0-4-1 in the preseason.

Rookie Steve Kariya, younger brother of Anaheim superstar Paul Kariya, assisted on Komarniski's goal for his sixth point of the preseason.

Patrick Poulin and Matt Higgins scored for the Canadiens, who are 2-4-1 in exhibiton play. Jeff Hackett stopped 15 of 17 shots over the first two periods and Jose Theodore made eight saves in the final 25 minutes.
