PHOENIX (AP) -- Jyrki Lumme knew he was lucky. He wasn't about to give away his game-winning goal against Edmonton, though.

Not after nearly 62 minutes of frustration for the Phoenix Coyotes, who fell behind 2-0 in the first period, fought back to take two leads and then saw the Oilers tie the game by scoring in the final minute of consecutive periods.

"I'll take it any way it counts," said Lumme, whose double-ricochet shot 1:51 into overtime gave the Coyotes a 5-4 victory Wednesday night. "We started flat. We just have to make sure we play a hard 60 minutes."

Dallas Drake had his third assist of the game on Lumme's score, and Keith Tkachuk solved his scoring problems by scoring two goals -- his fourth and fifth of the season.

"I've had the chances this year, and I had a lot tonight," said Tkachuk, who took five of Phoenix's 36 shots.

Mika Alatalo scored the first Phoenix goal, and Trevor Letowski put in what appeared to be the winner with 6:59 left in the third period. But Edmonton's Alexander Selivanov scored with 59 seconds remaining to tie it at 4-4.

Ethan Moreau had two goals in his best game with the Oilers and Josef Beranek scored a power-play goal. But Edmonton remained the only NHL team without a road victory (0-6-1) and extended its winless streak to five.

"It's a bad feeling on a night when we've got the team going and we're scoring some goals," coach Kevin Lowe said.

Tommy Salo, who beat Phoenix 3-1 Oct. 26, stopped 31 shots. He helped fend off six Phoenix power plays without yielding a goal.

But it went for naught when Lumme fired a slap shot that deflected off Edmonton center Doug Weight and then changed direction again and skidded into the net off Salo's stick.

"We generated a lot of offense," Moreau said. "Maybe the only negative is we gave up quite a few chances. Tommy's played well all year, but we can't expect him to carry us. We've got two good goalies, and they've really been carrying the load, so we've to tighten up a little bit."

Bob Essensa of the Coyotes had 18 saves for the victory.

Tkachuk, Phoenix's top goal-scorer for four straight seasons, got his second goal short-handed, giving the Coyotes a 3-2 lead 4:17 into the second period.

The Oilers wasted little time jumping on Essensa at the start.

Moreau had the third two-goal game of his career midway through the period.

He got a clear path to the net when he picked off a crossing pass from Travis Green of Phoenix and followed the sliding puck into the low slot, where he flicked it past Essensa for an unassisted goal 1:15 into the game.

He scored again at the 9:33 mark with an assist from Mike Grier, who timed a pass from the circle so that it arrived at the top of the crease the same time as Moreau.

But the Coyotes fought back to win or tie for the fifth time after falling behind by two goals.

"We welcome the two points, and we also realize there is room for improvement," coach Bob Francis said.
