WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) _ Sylvain Cloutier and Jay Pandolfo scored third-period, power-play goals to lead New Jersey to a 5-4 exhibition victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night. With the score tied at 3, Cloutier beat Penguins goalie Sebastien Caron at 7:41 of the third. Just over five minutes later, Pandolfo fanned on a shot, but the puck still slid through Caron's pads. The defending Stanley Cup champion Devils, playing their preseason opener, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 9:25 of the first period. Ed Ward scored 34 seconds into the game, Colin White tallied at 2:12 and Steve Kelly netted a short-handed goal at 9:25. Goals by Alexei Kovalev, Martin Straka and Robert Lang rallied the Penguins to a 3-3 tie. Aleksey Morozov's goal with 32 seconds left in the third put the Penguins within a goal. But with 4.4 seconds left, Devils goalie Frederic Henry gloved a deflection of a Toby Petersen shot.
