ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- Kai Nurminen, defenseman Brad Bombardir and Aaron Gavey scored first-period goals and Jamie McLellan stopped 21 shots as the expansion Minnesota Wild posted a 3-1 exhibition victory over the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Nurminen beat goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere from the right faceoff circle 2:49 into the game and Bombardir doubled the advantage just over three minutes later before Gavey redirected Jeff Nielsen's shot at 10:46 for a 3-0 advantage. Teemu Selanne scored his second preseason goal with just under six minutes left, but the Mighty Ducks could not get any closer and dropped to 3-4 in preseason play. Anaheim's Paul Kariya was ejected late in the game for slashing. McLennan stopped 12 shots through the first two periods before recording nine saves in the third to remain unbeaten at 1-0-2. He also helped the Wild kill all nine of Anaheim's power-play attempts. Giguere, who came over in a trade from Calgary on June 9, went the distance and stopped only 11 shots.
