CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Defenseman Paul Laus scored twice and Roberto Luongo made 34 saves as the Florida Panthers recorded a 3-0 exhibition blanking of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Known more for his physical play, Laus opened the scoring just under eight minutes into the game off an assist from Peter Worrell. He added an empty-net goal with 70 seconds remaining after fighting Columbus defenseman Jamie Pushor midway through the second period. Rookie Denis Shvidki scored his fourth preseason goal and Pavel Bure had an assist for Florida, which improved to 6-1-1 in exhibition play. Luongo, who came over from the New York Islanders in a four-player draft day trade, improved to 2-0-1 in the preseason. He stopped 14 shots in the first period before coming up with 13 saves over the final 20 minutes. Marc Denis went the distance for Columbus and turned aside 19 shots. The Blue Jackets were 0-for-7 on the power play and fell to 2-5-1.
