Up front, Martin Bartek (202nd overall in '98) had a solid year at Moncton (QMJHL). The Slovak native had 32 goals and 76 points in 69 games. Another European from the '98 draft class is left wing Denis Arkhipov (60th overall ). In 1999-2000, he had 16 points in 32 games for Russian League club AK-Bars Kazan.
Among forwards selected last season, right wing Jonas Andersson (33rd overall) had 67 points (31 G, 36 A) in 67 games at North Bay (OHL), while right wing Konstantin Panov (131st overall), had 43 goals and 73 games for Kamloops (WHL).
In goal, last year's top pick, Brian Finley (6th overall), had a 24-12-6 record with a 3.07 GAA for OHL Champion Barrie, while Jan Lasak (65th overall in '99) went 36-17-4 with a 2.55 GAA in 59 games in the ECHL with the Hampton Roads Admirals.
