| | | Serena Williams hadn't had a lot of fun in 2001 -- until she went blonde.
Mired in a yearlong slump, Serena changed her hair color a couple of weeks ago, turning her dark braids to platinum blonde.
The change seemed to work as Williams won just her second tournament of the summer last week, beating Jennifer Capriati in the Rogers AT&T Cup championship. That victory ended a string of four consecutive losses to Capriati, including a tough defeat in the Wimbledon quarterfinals.
