  RECAP | BOX SCORE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Nikki McCray scored 18 points Saturday night to lead the Washington Mystics to a 78-74 victory over Charlotte, the Sting's WNBA-record ninth consecutive home loss.

Charlotte (2-13) has lost five straight and 18 of its last 20 regular-season games, dating back to last season. The nine straight home losses breaks the mark of eight straight, previously held by Washington.

The Mystics (7-7) took their largest lead of the game on Keisha Anderson's layup that made it 69-63 with 5:52 to play. But Tracy Reid scored five points in Charlotte's 7-2 run that cut it to 71-70 with 4:01 to go.

Vicky Bullett, who was traded to Washington by Charlotte during the offseason, scored on a layup to give the Mystics a 73-70 lead. But she turned the ball over after a Charlotte miss, and Andrea Stinson cut the score to 73-72 with 3:03 to play.

McCray then scored on a fastbreak layup to make it 75-72. After Charlotte missed another shot, Bullett's long jumper hit the rim as the shot clock expired and Washington got the rebound. McCray was fouled and made both free throws to put the Mystics up 77-72 with 37 seconds left.

Stinson's layup with 12.1 seconds to play cut it to 77-74, but Anderson sealed it by making one of two free throws to push the lead to 78-74.

Chamique Holdsclaw had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Mystics, while Bullett scored 16.

Dawn Staley scored a season-high 19 points for Charlotte. Stinson had 18 and Shalonda Enis, who came to Charlotte in the Bullett trade, had 12.
