Chamique Holdsclaw had 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Mystics (8-10), while Nikki McCray scored 14 points. A 3-pointer by Tully Bevilaqua started the Fire on a 27-9 run that gave them a 56-39 lead with 10:18 remaining as the Mystics did not make a field goal for a span of 6:47. Holdsclaw then scored seven straight points, including a 3-pointer, to cut the lead to 10. Crawley picked up her third foul and sat down midway through the first half, and the Mystics took the lead with 5:09 left when Markita Aldridge hit a deep 3-pointer, starting an 8-2 run as Washington took a 29-27 halftime lead.
