NEW YORK (AP) _ Vickie Johnson scored 19 points as the New York Liberty won their fourth straight, 84-70 over the Charlotte Sting on Wednesday night. Becky Hammon added 16 for the Liberty (11-9), winners of six of eight. All-Star selection Andrea Stinson had 21 for the Sting (3-17), losers of four straight and nine of 10. Charlotte, which made the playoffs in each of the WNBA's first three seasons, shares the worst record in the league with expansion Seattle. The Liberty led by 18 at halftime and increased their lead to 56-24 lead on a jumper by Crystal Robinson with 15:02 remaining. Charlotte came within 68-51 on Stinson's scoop layup with 6:27 left. The Liberty put their starters back in with just over five minutes left as the Sting trimmed the lead to 14 on Dawn Staley's layup. Tracy Reid and Staley had 13 points apiece for Charlotte, which shot a season-low 17 percent in the first half and finished with 36 percent shooting. Tari Phillips had nine points and seven rebounds for the Liberty, and Teresa Weatherspoon had 10 points, seven assists and four steals. New York led 16-6 on consecutive baskets by Weatherspoon. The Sting were held without a field goal for more than 12 minutes before Reid hit a short jumper to cut the deficit to 26-13. The Liberty shot 9-for-16 on 3-pointers and led 38-20 at halftime. The Sting made just five field goals in the first period. Reid led with nine points on 3-for-4 shooting.
